13 shady tricks to get in their inbox
i'm guilty of them all

Hi sneaky reader trying to bypass my list what’s up with your Sunday!!
Remember when I told you to go easy on the teaching & don’t overdo your guides?
Well.
We’re ignoring that rule today.
Truth is, I’m stupidly excited to share my hacks with you, cz…
To write stunning emails to your subs you gotta have, well………..
Subs to write to.

And carving out time of your week to type to 7 subs and ur mum….
Can feel like a lost ROI if you know what I mean.
(your mum’s too busy to read anyways)
So today… wihtout further ado or stories about cows ….
We’ll track down 13 ways to move your followers to the next stage of your relationship:
↳ EMAIL.
Introducing….
MY 13 SHAMELESS WAYS TO SNATCH THEIR SOULS.
Let the games begin.
But first..
Rule #0: Have a signup page.

If you want a cool one like this… I walk you through it here (it’s easier than you think). Just don’t use Ghost for email marketing, ok? I was wrong…
Awesome.
Now that you’re all set (or have broken your brain trying)…
We’re milking all the ways you can use your signup page today.
1/ LinkedIn Profile (Standard).
If you’re on the LinkedIn basic plan, you can link your website right under your name, headline and location.
And, you guessed it… that website should be your signup page!
Cz where else can you directly spam your fans with your words…

what you see is what you get
And if your subs, leads & business are worth a LinkedIn Premium subscription to you, here’s the great news:
You get a BUTTON for your profile.
That button can direct to your website, your services or well…
Your newsletter.

LinkedIn settings → edit custom button
Looks like this on your profile:

But the real flex:
You just got yourself a link with your posts… Right below your headline!!

badumtssss
3/ LinkedIn Featured Section.
Now, if you DON’T have LinkedIn Premium and don’t wanna bleed $50 for A BUTTON, rest assured:
There’s more ways to catch them subs. Introducing….
Plugging your newsletter in your featured section.

plus: you get to upload your own thumbnail
But wait…
BONUS TIP:
DON’T add a description.
LinkedIn will make you click 2x before redirecting to your signup page.
There’s a time and place for making them work for it and…
THIS AIN’T IT.
NEAT. Now, with your profile looking pro...
Let's use your content to make them click.
4/ LinkedIn In Post.
To step up your shameless, you can
a. Dedicate whole posts to getting new subs
b. Plug your signup at the end of your regular ones

One fair word of warning:
LinkedIn ain’t too thrilled about you linking away, so…
This will compromise your reach.
Good thing you’re smart (& know what you’re optimizing for).
5/ LinkedIn Pinned Comments (Signup Page).
Ok but WHAT IF…
You’re not too crazy about trading reach for subs?
There’s still a way. That’s when you consider…
Plugging your signup page with a comment UNDER your posts.
(I got another full guide on pinned comments again but stick with me here will you)
One unshakable rule though:
Whatever you do don’t have fun.

example 3
Wait, so…
We’re not done exploiting your comments section yet.
6/ LinkedIn Pinned Comments (Gated Posts).
You can plug your email signup…
Or you can plug GATED POSTS*:
*if you’re publishing on a platform like Beehiiv, you can email & post on the Internet -
AT THE SAME TIME.

I love this one cz…
Every newsletter, guide and story becomes a lead magnet.
There’s really no bypassing your list (hehe):

totally fair
So you’re telling me…
You read all the way here and you don’t even have a LinkedIn account???
I feel you.
But don’t despair: we’re equally shameless across platforms.
Let’s now exploit your…
7/ Twitter Profile.
Same drill as on LinkedIn, really:
FIRST we make your website link your signup page (the less options, the better).
Here’s how you optimize your X profile for maximum subs:

rename your location property to whatever describes your emails….
But what about your content?
8/ Twitter Pinned Tweet.
Now, on X you don’t have a featured section…
But what you DO have is a pinned tweet.
Make it support your profile’s message, and…
well USE IT TO GET SIGNUPS!!

remind me to update my welcome sequence will you
9/ Twitter In Tweet.
Like on LinkedIn, you can use your posts to drive signups.
And like on LinkedIn, Elon penalizes you for calling to abandon his platform…
By including direct links.
But well.
You could care less right :)

10/ Twitter 2nd Tweet (Shameless Segways).
But oh well.
Same days you do care about your reach so…
It’s your time to get creative and…
Write shameless segways.
(to your reach tweets)
Like this:

example 2
I’ll tell you a secret:
It’s the same as on LinkedIn (yet again).
“Pinned comments” ftw ↓

example 3

example too many
ANYHOW.
Got new ideas yet?
Or want me to force-feed you more pics…
Cz there’s 3 MORE ways to steal yourself subs!!!
Introducing…
11/ Twitter 2nd Tweet (Autoplug).
Here’s the thing:
You got a life.
You don’t have the time, energy or emotional resources to sit by your tweets, wait until they hit some level of fame to then plug a second tweet with your newsletter.
Soo….
Here’s what I do (do copy this):
I schedule an autoplug that kicks in once the tweet hits 50 likes.
(it’s arbitrary, really)
Check this:

same as my pinned post, u got me there
Now, if my 11 hacks haven’t been enough for you and you REALLY wanna play with fire…
You can always try getting yourself blocked.
12/ Twitter Plugs Under OTHER People’s Posts.
Let’s go all out today shall we:

13% blocked

67% blocked

100% not blocked
Now. You’re banned from Twitter already?
Here’s your last out:
13/ Ask for referrals in your emails.
2 ways you can play this:

Laura Belgray says hi

like mine
BUT WAIT! I’ve found another cool Beehiiv feature to exploit….
13.7/ Beehiiv Partnerships.
Support your favourite email friends AND give your subs more words to sub to:

But look.
What works best? You gotta test…
(i'll tell you what works for me in my next email)
