Goooood MORNING precious email subscdriber who happens to get bored on a Sunday!!!!

Aaaanddd since you’re still here…

Here’s tmi on my Sunday:

  • The day started smashingly well (i overslept) and arrived 13 min late to my milk shift

  • Herding dog Moon tried to make up for the time crunch by driving the cows out of their boxes at 1.5x speed

  • 1 cow got confused…

  • and denied further collaboration.

1 chill cow in 1 box

So here’s what happened:

Nothing.

The cow didn’t get up.

The dog got annoyed.

I lost it 3 hours before breakfast.

Our solution?

Leaving the cow chilling for another 69 minutes.

(much to the delight of the farmer:

he woke up to the challenge of pushing 700kg of cow out of her parking space)

ANYWAYS.

Everyone survived and…

Sooooo…..

Well i figured we all need inspiration sometimes and i wanna save you the trouble of staring at a blank page when trying to come up with something that’s hooking…

So out of pure charity…

I’m sharing a secret i never wanted you to find out about……

(the 1 thing that makes your day productive when doomscrolling the Internet)

Outrageously good hooks, headlines, words and ads.

Sometimes (ok often) this includes…..

Youtube titles.

In case your glasses ain’t glassing, here’s examples that made me click:

  • etc etc

Now….

What do they all have in common?

Do we see a pattern here?

Well, without boring you with my OCD analysis on a Sunday, it’s fair to say…

There’s variations of

  • action

  • how to

  • humour

  • contrast

  • numbers

  • suspense

  • trigger words

  • bold opinions

  • strong emotion

  • polarizing topics

The 1 thing that’s missing?

Right.

Made-up percentages.

(you just gotta take my word for it)

Now.

Want a failsafe process to write better copy?

(my 7 step framework to get writers blocked)

  1. Scrape the Internet for

  • ads

  • YT titles

  • ridiculously great headlines

and stuff them into a Notion file.

  1. Sit down to write.

  2. Stare at your page.

  3. Cheat with your Notion file.

  4. Write 21 lame hook attempts.

  5. Hate my guts………….and log off.

  6. (repeat)

Here’s 3 boring secrets no one wants to admit: (hehe)

  1. You’re the sum of your influences.

  2. Nobody’s original from scratch.

  3. You gotta suck until you don’t.

(everybody saying otherwise is lying… to themselves)

But since we’re all copies…

we gotta be smart about it.

The TRUTH about stealing words:

You gotta mix and match several of your influences AT THE SAME TIME.

(or people are gonna find you out)

But yay there’s an upside.

Remember those 13 hooks you wrote?

(be honest 21 is delusional)

  • They’re not just practise.

  • You didn’t waste your time.

  • You didn’t lose 97% of hooks.

You cram them in THROUGHOUT your copy….

to keep me on my toes.
